‘Sustainable mining can be profitable’

Sustainable mining is not a new concept for Goan Sustainable mining is not a new concept for Goan companies. But a few unscrupulous fly-by-night operators were tarnishing the local mining industry, said stakeholders, on Saturday. Industry experts further said that contrary to popular perception, sustainability and profitability were complimentary.

In the backdrop of the recent closure of mining operations in the state, the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a seminar aimed at discussing issues related to sustainability of mining operations. Read more

अधिकारों पर चर्चा के लिए जुटे देश भर के आदिवासी संगठन

संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ द्वारा घोषित विश्व आदिवासी अधिकार दिवस का जश्न गुरुवार को रांची में देखने को मिला। आदिवासी समन्वय समिति के तत्वाधान में आयोजित इस महासम्मेलन में देश के 13 राज्यों का प्रतिनिधित्व दर्ज हुआ। हरमू मैदान में पूरे दिन के लिए यह कार्यक्रम चला जिसमें आदिवासी हित से जुड़े विभिन्न मुद्दों पर बात हुई। अन्य राज्यों से आए लोगों ने अपन राज्यों में आदिवासियों की स्थिति का वर्णन किया और उनकी उम्मीदों व मांगो को सबके सामने रखा। Read more

देश में आदिवासी लड़ रहे अस्तित्व की लड़ाई, सभी दलों ने छला

यूएनओ द्वारा 13 सितंबर को घोषणा पत्र दिवस को विश्व आदिवासी अधिकार घोषणा दिवस के रूप में मनाया गया। आदिवासी समन्वय मंच, भारत द्वारा इस बार रांची के हरमू मैदान में इस कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें झारखंड, नेपाल समेत देश के कुल 13 जनजातीय समुदायों ने हिस्सा लिया। कार्यक्रम के माध्यम से कहा गया कि आज पूरे देश में पांचवीं अनुसूची की अवहेलना हो रही है। आदिवासी संघर्षरत हैं। विगत 70 वर्षों में सभी दलों ने आदिवासियों को छलने का काम किया। ऐसे में देश में निवास करने वाले 10 करोड़ 39 लाख आदिवासियों को एकजुट होने की जरूरत है। Read more

Report slams DMF funds to medical college

The New Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has raised objection to sanction of Rs 396 crore to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Keonjhar when healthcare in the district is in a shambles.

A report published by CSE details release of funds of District Mineral Foundation (DMF) and their utilisation in various sectors. It has expressed concern over the slow utilisation of the funds in the district. Read more
