Police Take Three Rights Activists Into Custody, Raid Others’ Homes Across Cities

Mumbai: Police teams from different states are reported to have launched simultaneous raids at the homes of several people in Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi, Goa and Hyderabad, including activists, priests, writers and lawyers.

Human rights advocate Sudha Bharadwaj’s home was raided and she was taken into custody this morning, sources told The Wire. According to the FIR, Bharadwaj has been charged under Sections 153a, 505, 117 and 120 of the IPC. Orders for the arrest came from Swargate police station, Pune, according to the police, and five policemen from Pune were part of the team that went to her house. Read more
