Jamshedpur: DMFT approves several development projects in mining-affected areas

Jamshedpur, Dec 12: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vijaya Jadhav convened a meeting of District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) on Monday and discussed various issues ranging from health and education to minor irrigation and livelihood in mining affected areas.

The meeting was also attended by Ghatsila MLA Ramdas Soren, Baharagora MLA Samir Mohanty, Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar, Zila Parishad chairperson Bari Murmu, DRDA Director Saurabh Sinha, NEP Director Jyotsna Singh, District Planning Officer Arun Dwivedi, District Mining Officer Sanjay Sharma and the officials of all technical departments.

The DC sought proposal from the district Civil Surgeon Dr Sahir Pal for the deputation of doctors and health workers at the primary health centres (PHCs) and community health centres (CHCs). It was decided to depute gynaecologists in Baharagora and Chakulia blocks. The proposals received from different Assembly constituencies affected by mining were integrated to prepare the work plan for 2022-2023. The schemes recommended by the MLAs were also included. Those schemes that would directly or indirectly benefit people in mining affected areas were given priority under the DMFT fund. It was decided to construct over classrooms in schools at more than 40 places and anganbari buildings besides building drains and providing minor irrigation facility to villagers, sources said.
