DMF Trust offices to be set up at district level

PANJIM: For better coordination, planning and monitoring, Government has decided to set up District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Trusts office at the district level-North and South.
After being pulled up by the Bombay High Court at Goa over constitution of DMF, the State Government has notified it as a trust, which would be headed by District Collectors.
Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) in January notified the Goa District Mineral Foundation (Trust) Rules, 2018.

DMG Director Ameya Abhyankar in a notification issued has said that every District Mineral Foundation (Trust) shall consist of a Governing Council and Managing Committee. The governing council, comprising of 18 members, would be headed by district collectors.
Apart from the head office, which would be situated as per directions of the governing council, the DMF Trusts will also set up an office at the district level for coordination, planning, monitoring, accounting and public disclosure of information.

The objective of the DMF Trust is to work for the interests, benefits and sustainable development of persons and areas affected by mining or mining related operations in the district. Also to utilize the funds accumulated in the DMF trust in an effective, transparent and accountable manner and at the same time ensuring the benefit of the funds are enjoyed not only by the present generation but the future generation to come.
