We immediately put a stop to it and after SC’s orders, we again sent out team on field to find out if any illegal mining was being done in that area. Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar Wednesday convened a meeting to discuss the modalities for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) in the district.
“The meeting was informed that District Mineral Foundation Pulwama has collected Rs 1,22,78,819 as royalty from various miners across the District while as Rs 176.26 lac royalty is anticipated by the end of the financial year,” the statement said. Read more

PANAJI: Directorate of mines and geology has identified three priority areas for usage of funds in the mining-affected areas under the Goa District Mineral Foundation.
The three areas will be water supply, transport to school and college students and sanitation. “We have agreed, in-principle, to provide water supply to mining-affected areas till permanent water connections are installed,” said a senior mines officer. The mines directorate is also working out modalities with the Goa Mineral Ore Exporters Association to provide buses for school and college students. Read more
