Bullet train: Final hearing in Gujarat HC from Oct 12

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat high court on Thursday decided that it would start final hearing from October 12 on petitions challenging the state government’s notification for land acquisition for the ambitious Bullet train project.

A bench of Chief Justice R S Reddy and Justice V M Pancholi also issued notice to the Centre, the state government and other concerned authorities in response to 30 new petitions filed by farmers from Navsari, Surat and Bharuch districts. They have objected to the land acquisition process and insisted that the land acquisition process should have been initiated according to the provisions of the 2013 central act, and not under the amended law by Gujarat government.
