Naisargik, Ayushman make state proud on national stage

BHUBANESWAR: At 16, when most children his age is into social media and mobile phones, Naisargik is busy finding about the harmful effects of hexavalent chromium and ways to prevent it from getting into the food chain. His persistence helped him bag the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (national child award) in the innovation category from President on Tuesday.

After Meghalaya Mine Tragedy, 2 Killed as Illegal Jharkhand Mine Caves in; Data Show Fatalities Are on The Rise

Data from the Ministry of Labour and Employment and news reports shows that at least 1,666 coal mine accidents happened between 2013 and 2016. Among these, as many as 261 were fatal accidents, causing at least 297 deaths.

At least two miners died after an illegal coal mine collapsed in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad on Wednesday, over a month after 15 miners got trapped in a ‘rat-hole’ mine in Meghalaya’s Khlooryngksan area.

Paving way to register DMF as trust: govt submits draft of rules to HC

The state government has submitted draft of Goa District Mineral Foundation (Trust) Rules 2018, before the High Court of Bombay at Goa.

The High Court has allowed the petitioner NGO to make submissions over the draft rules. The High Court by its order in October 2018 had barred office bearers of District Mineral Foundations of both North and South Goa districts from taking any financial decision or dealing with amounts of Foundations.
